About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned finance professional to join our team as Director of Financial Operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead the development of a robust financial management system that supports strategic objectives and enhances overall financial stability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Finance team who are responsible for ensuring key functions are operating efficiently and effectively. The role will involve engagement with a large range of stakeholders, including the Executive Management team, Board members, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Finance team to achieve performance targets and professional development.
  • Articulate a vision to colleagues, external stakeholders, and the Board of the medium and long-term plans for the function.
  • Build enhanced relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Recruit and develop team members to achieve high performance that supports the execution of growth strategy.
  • Align each team's goals with objectives and strategic priorities.
  • Drive a strong financial control culture and ensure a robust accounting framework across end-to-end financial processes.
  • Oversee the production of accurate financial and budgeting reports.
  • Provide comprehensive and understandable information to the Senior Leadership Team and Board.
  • Lead the Treasury management policies and operations.
  • Ensure there are robust policies, procedures, and controls in place to manage financial activities.
  • Oversee the year end audit with Comptroller & Auditor General.

Requirements

  • A qualified accountant with a high level of numeracy, financial acumen, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience working in a relevant role in Finance.
  • Experience of having worked in a similar Finance role.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Effective planning skills with a proven ability to prioritise work to achieve objectives within strict timescales.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team with diverse backgrounds and skillsets.
