This role encompasses the technical aspects of customer projects and services from inception to completion, ensuring they meet customer needs. The ideal candidate will be driven to develop as a Technical Leader with subject matter expertise in Medium Voltage and Low Voltage Power Distribution technologies.
The individual in this position confirms customer requirements, including drawings, specifications, job site requirements, and bill of material alignment with specifications, while clarifying exceptions or deviations. They liaise with project managers throughout the customer project process, from initial internal kick-off through to completion of on-site activities, utilizing a base knowledge of Schneider Electric products and their use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a deep understanding of medium voltage equipment, including switchgear, protection relays, and power transformers, as well as low voltage equipment, such as switchgear, ACB's, MCCB's, metering, power factor correction, UPS, etc. Schneider product knowledge is preferable.
- Take ownership of the technical portion of customer projects from the internal kick-off meeting, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, specification/standards compliance, and serving as the point of contact for the project manager on all technical matters for the balance of the project.
- Attend internal kick-off meetings with factories, alongside the project manager, to ensure product alignment with customer requirements, specification/standards compliance, and site-specific requirements or restrictions.
- Review project scope in line with technical offers and propose value engineering where possible.
- Review factory drawings to ensure compliance and review and interpret returned customer comments.
- Assist the project manager in developing a handover to services at project closure, focusing on efficiency for all site/commissioning activities.
- Coordinate across departments to develop knowledge of other and new Schneider products and drive product learnings to project managers and other team members to assist in cross-business unit growth.
- Assist in creating lessons learned post-project and feed back to tendering to ensure efficiency and compliance on future projects.
- Assist the tendering department during pre-bid and offer development stage for new projects.
- Support services sales teams with tender enquiries and coordinate with services teams where required to propose the best solution.
- Support the identification of new opportunities while attending customer sites to support Services Growth.
- Compare/differentiate/propose alternate products with additional customer value compared to competition.
- Resolve problems with customer interaction that results in positive feedback and improved relationships.
- Utilize a base knowledge of Schneider Electric products and their use, demonstrating an understanding of fundamental knowledge, processes, and terminology.
Education and Experience:
- An Engineering education in Electrical Engineering – minimum degree (level 7) or equivalent in a related engineering discipline.
- Prior work experience involving MV or LV Power Distribution would be an advantageous background.
