Chief Information Security Architect

Our team seeks a skilled Security Operations Engineer to protect critical systems in the education and research sector.
The selected candidate will implement and support shared security platforms, analyse logs and network traffic, run vulnerability scans, and contribute to security policies and processes.
This role requires qualification or hands-on experience in system administration, engineering, SOC, or similar fields. Key skills include server security hardening, hypervisor builds, CI/CD DevOps, scripting (Python ideal), and knowledge of security principles and threat landscapes.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and support shared security platforms to enhance infrastructure resilience.
- Analyse logs, NetFlow, and packet captures to detect and investigate threats.
- Run vulnerability scans and guide remediation efforts to ensure robust security posture.
- Contribute to security policies and processes to stay ahead of evolving cyber threats.
- Qualification or hands-on experience in system admin, engineering, SOC, or similar roles.
- Server security hardening & hypervisor builds.
- Familiarity with CI/CD DevOps and scripting (Python ideal).
- Knowledge of security principles, threat landscape, and attack vectors.
- NIST/ISO27001, SIEM/EDR tools, vulnerability scanners, Splunk, NetFlow/PCAP analysis, cyber certs, GitLab, ITIL, higher education or managed security service experience.
