Director of Sport Position Overview

We are seeking a visionary leader to oversee and advance all aspects of sports development, competition pathways, and programme delivery.

The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of the organisation's overall sports strategy, ensuring alignment with the mission, values, and long-term goals.

  • Key Responsibilities:

• Lead strategic planning and implementation across all sport programmes, ensuring alignment, quality, and measurable impact.

• Design and oversee structured athlete development and competition pathways, accessible, sustainable, and consistent with organisational rules.

• Strengthen clubs and expand inclusive models to foster community integration and participation.

• Oversee coach education frameworks and drive initiatives for female participation and leadership in sports.

• Empower athletes to take on leadership roles within sports and the wider community.

• Champion inclusive health initiatives and wellbeing campaigns that promote healthy lifestyles.

• Foster strong relationships with national governing bodies, coaching bodies, and disability sport organisations.

• Ensure sports clubs comply with safeguarding and governance standards and manage risks related to sports delivery.

• Lead monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems across all sport programmes and establish KPIs and impact metrics to assess effectiveness.

• Embed a culture of continuous learning and evidence-based decision-making.

• Oversee World Games planning and delivery to ensure athletes and management teams are supported and prepared for international competition.

• Build and maintain relationships with key funding and regulatory bodies and advocate for greater inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in sports.
