We're looking for a skilled Journalist to join our team at Galway Beo. As a leading news site dedicated to the area, we're committed to providing high-quality content that engages our readers and helps us make a positive impact on the local communities we serve.

This role involves finding and writing compelling stories that capture the imagination of our readers. We're looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people with diverse backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important to our readers so we can continue to diversify our content.

As a Journalist, you will be responsible for researching and writing articles, using a range of digital formats to ensure our content reaches as many people as possible. You will also work closely with our editorial team to publish content in accordance with our Editor's Code of practice.

Job Requirements

What will the role entail?

You will write engaging articles, develop storylines, and use your journalistic skills to find and report on stories that matter to our readers in Galway. All while ensuring that every piece of content is researched and published in accordance with our editorial standards. You will be confident using a range of digital tools and quickly identify breaking news by utilising social media platforms.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

An experienced journalist with relevant journalism degree and media law knowledge (we will consider candidates with relevant time served), you have a strong track record of delivering engaging human interest stories and ideally an accomplished live blogger while understanding what works for a digital audience.

You have first-rate editing, writing and subbing skills, relish the test of working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You're social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and ideally you're familiar with newsroom analytics and content management systems. You're flexible, inquisitive and are on the pulse of what makes a great story.
