Job Overview

This position involves delivering occupational therapy services to patients in their homes. The primary goal is to help patients develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills. Occupational therapists will assess patients' needs, create personalized treatment plans, and teach patients new skills or retrain them in activities they have lost due to illness or injury.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of occupational therapy principles, practices, and techniques. They must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and organizational skills are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients' functional status, including muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, work capacity, etc.
  • Evaluate the home environment for hazards and barriers to independent living.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care, including equipment needs.
  • Teach patients new skills or retrain them in daily activities.
  • Communicate patient progress to healthcare professionals and families.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and reports.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A graduate degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.
  • 1 year of clinical experience as an occupational therapist (preferred).
  • Registration with the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to demonstrate problem-solving, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance coverage.
  • Physical stamina to perform job duties.
