The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of relational databases, including decision support systems and online transactional processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define requirements and associated designs for relational database systems.
  • Work closely with the application development team to ensure successful deployment and performance of database applications.
  • Resolve issues and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Lead or participate in the design and implementation of large, complex database solutions.
  • Consult with developers and clients to determine the impact of new and revised processes on overall system architecture.
  • Facilitate, monitor, and implement data replication solutions for multiple databases.
  • Implement advanced monitoring and alerting solutions for database systems.
  • Maintain system documentation and ensure database consistency, integrity, security, and auditing compliance.
  • Perform regular database patching and OS patching.
  • Manage database development, testing, and implementation to meet capacity standards and sizing objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience in large enterprise database environments and solution delivery methodologies.
  • Regulated environment experience.
  • Experience working with company operating procedures, policies, tasks, and processes.
  • Transactional and/or data warehouse practice experience.
  • Database security experience.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Linux/Unix shell scripting, SQL, and PL/SQL proficiency.
  • Experience working with Oracle on Linux/Unix.
  • Backup/recovery using Oracle RMAN and DataPump expertise.
  • High availability using Oracle RAC and Data Guard experience.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple assignments.

Bonus Points

  • GoldenGate experience.
  • Oracle advanced security expertise.
  • Ability to architect the database based on user requirements.

About You

You should have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent degree with a strong focus on database concepts and technology. A minimum of 7 years of experience in Oracle database administration is essential. Some experience in the Pharma, Life Sciences, or Medical Devices manufacturing setting would be beneficial but is not required.

You should have proven experience at Senior or Lead level in a database administration role and the ability to develop and mentor less experienced individuals while managing senior-level stakeholders in other teams and functions. Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail are crucial for this position.

This role will be based onsite in Kilkenny, so you should be living within a reasonable commute of the site or willing and able to relocate within a short period. You must have a valid work permit allowing you to work in Ireland or be an EU or UK citizen.
