Oral Surgery Education and Research Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Academic Consultant to join our team. The successful candidate will contribute to the education and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Oral Surgery.
The main duties of this position include supporting and contributing to the organisation and delivery of a three-year taught doctoral programme in Oral Surgery, including research. The appointee will be responsible for the administration, organisation, and delivery of oral care teaching and training to undergraduates, postgraduates, those in higher training, and continuing education courses.
The ideal candidate will have substantial teaching experience at university level, including clinical supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students in oral surgery. They should also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially within working teams, and clear personal motivation with the ability to empower and motivate others.
The appointee will work closely with key stakeholders in the health service, particularly service providers and other agencies, to scope and deliver appropriate education/training and research in the area of Oral Surgery. They will also participate in the formulation of strategic plans for the institution and take responsibility for the delivery of strategic goals.
- Provide academic leadership in Oral Surgery
- Develop and manage the education/training and research area of Oral Surgery
- Contribute to the planning, development, and provision of effective oral care services
- Support the continued development of the oral surgery service for patients
Applicants must have registration with the Dental Council and necessary qualifications for a Consultant in Oral Surgery, as well as significant experience and leadership in the design, delivery, and management of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The successful candidate will have an active interest in dental research with a proven track record in research and success in securing funding for research projects. They should also have extensive experience in the clinical and didactic teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Oral Surgery, preferably in a multidisciplinary setting.
Leadership skills are essential, including the ability to plan and facilitate a team to adapt to rapid changes taking place in the educational and health services. Experience with input into strategic planning and the ability to deliver on strategic needs is also required.
