Job Title: Environmental Specialist

Job Description:

As an Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expertise in ecology and biodiversity to support the delivery of renewable energy projects. This includes conducting baseline ecological surveys, developing site-specific rehabilitation plans, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess a Level 8+ qualification in ecology or a related scientific subject and have at least 5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in ecological surveying, habitat and species identification, and data management is essential. The successful candidate will also be skilled in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Project, as well as GIS software such as ArcGIS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct baseline ecological surveys to inform project design and rehabilitation plans
  • Develop and implement site-specific rehabilitation plans for peatland habitats
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices
  • Provide ecological expertise to support the delivery of renewable energy projects
  • Manage and maintain databases and records related to ecological surveys and project implementation
Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Level 8+ qualification in ecology or a related scientific subject
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in ecological surveying and data management
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Project
  • Experience with GIS software, including ArcGIS
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
