Healthcare Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a part-time Healthcare Assistant. This role will provide support to the nursing staff in delivering high-quality person-centred care to residents.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be empathetic, kind, and caring in their approach, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the nursing staff in delivering quality care to meet the needs of residents
  • Getting to know residents' interests and needs, providing attention, support, and companionship
  • Promoting mobility, supervising, and assisting as necessary to ensure optimum mobility is maintained and improved where possible
  • Enabling and assisting residents to maintain personal appearance/hygiene needs while maintaining dignity
  • Assisting with eating/drinking and achieving physical comfort
  • Participating in social activities and developing good relationships between residents' families and staff
  • Contributing to the upkeep of cleanliness in the home and maintenance of Health and Safety standards

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare or equivalent (in process or completed)
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment (with a good knowledge of HIQA standards) preferable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Empathetic, kind, and caring approach
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
