Concept Artist Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished and dynamic Concept Artist to join our vibrant team. This pivotal role is responsible for designing captivating characters, immersive locations, and intriguing props from initial sketches to final approved artwork.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Art Director and Director to create engaging concepts.
  • Design characters, locations, and props with unique style and personality, aligned with story requirements and briefs.
  • Research and explore designs through various references.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team to interpret concepts and support fellow team members.
  • Manage assets and time efficiently to meet strict deadlines.
  • Actively respond to feedback and notes.
  • Participate in various design phases, from conceptualizing and quality reviews to resource integration.
  • Create and refine striking designs within set production schedules.
  • Work closely with departments like Modelling to ensure concept designs fit seamlessly within project workflows.
Key Requirements:
  • Ideal experience as a Concept Artist in the animation or games industry.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design skills and artistic creativity.
  • Adaptable to various styles of shows and projects.
  • Proficient with design tools such as Photoshop, or equivalent.
  • Solid traditional drawing skills, especially in perspective and human anatomy.
  • Deep understanding of colour theory, volume, and value structures.
  • Ability to depict characters' emotional and physical traits through exploratory designs.
  • Strong collaborative spirit, open to direction and feedback from leads and art directors.
  • Creative problem-solving mindset, with a keenness for challenges and finding innovative solutions.
  • Knowledgeable in 3D animation workflows.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and thrive in a busy studio environment.
