Teaching Swimming

The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering swimming programmes at a national aquatic centre, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver swimming lessons in line with the Swim Ireland Child Learn to Swim syllabus and guidelines.
  • Evaluate swimmers' progress on a daily/weekly basis using a designated platform.
  • Maintain the pool environment by setting up and taking down equipment as required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety rules and procedures at all times.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of the centre and its parent organisation.
  • Keep accurate records in relation to all aspects of work and prepare reports as required.
Requirements:
  • A valid swim teacher training or qualification at Level 1 or Level 2 is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
  • The ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, is necessary.

Required skills include excellence, professionalism, teamwork, customer focus, integrity, and respect for individual differences. The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching swimming and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. They will also possess strong organisational and time management skills and be able to work effectively under pressure. As well as these key skills, they will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
