Land Acquisition Expert

We are seeking an experienced Land Acquisition Expert to join our team in delivering land referencing, landowner engagement, consultation management, and land acquisition services for strategic infrastructure development projects across Ireland and the UK.

This is a unique opportunity to work with diverse, talented individuals who will help you expand your horizons. As part of our team, you will be involved in high-profile infrastructure projects across various sectors, including Energy, Water, Road, Rail, and Local Authority.

Our team supports projects such as the North South Interconnector, NM20, Dublin Metrolink, M17, and A5, as well as HS2. We also work on renewable energy projects that are critical for the deployment of net-zero carbon emissions.

As a key member of our team, you will enjoy the support of multi-disciplinary colleagues in our Naas, Belfast, and wider GB offices.

  • Lead a team of technical specialists to ensure successful delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to high standards.
  • Be a trusted advisor to clients (externally and internally) and manage relationships.
  • Advise on land issues within Ireland and the UK, including statutory processes to acquire land.
  • Secure land rights for high-profile, strategic infrastructure projects.
  • Liaise with landowners, auctioneers, land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, stakeholders, contractors, and clients.
  • Work closely with the Land team and collaborate with engineering, environmental, and planning teams.
  • Lead quality assurance of deliverables in relation to land interests and rights negotiation, access to land for surveys, consents, and land acquisition.
  • Promote Land services and contribute to business development across electricity, highway, rail, water, telecoms, gas, and renewable energy sectors.
  • Support knowledge sharing and lessons across regions and projects.
  • Develop efficient working practices and promote innovation in the team.
  • Ensure the team has necessary skills and resources to deliver successful projects and grow the business.
  • Manage, motivate, mentor, and develop staff, contributing to the delivery of the business strategy.
  • Support writing bids/tenders to secure opportunities from internal and external clients.
  • Lead delivery of training on technical topics.
Requirements
  • Expertise in rural environment, property, communities, and agricultural working practices.
  • Experience working on infrastructure development schemes with multi-disciplinary teams across various sectors and locations.
  • Experience negotiating commercial terms with landowners and knowledge of legal processes for acquiring wayleaves and easements.
  • Demonstrable experience reducing land risk for clients and advising on land-related matters throughout project lifecycles.
  • Proven track record developing Orders and/or acquiring consents and interests in land, and knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Experience in infrastructure development schemes, particularly electricity, road, gas, rail, and renewable energy sectors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, building relationships with colleagues, landowners, and clients at all levels.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Knowledge of the rural environment and farming practices desirable.
  • Chartership or membership in a Professional body advantageous.
  • A full driver's license essential.
