Virtual Triage Nurse Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and skilled nurse to join our virtual team as a Virtual Triage Nurse.

About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for a registered general nurse with a passion for emergency medicine to work in a new and exciting initiative. As a Virtual Triage Nurse, you will be responsible for performing remote triage assessments using digital health platforms and telehealth protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform remote triage assessments using digital health platforms and telehealth protocols.
  • Use AI-enabled tools and structured triage pathways to categorize patients and determine the urgency of care.
  • Escalate high-acuity cases to ED consultants or senior registrars in line with clinical governance protocols.
  • Manage non-urgent presentations with appropriate advice, referrals, or discharge pathways.
  • Document clinical decisions in line with regulatory and international standards.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary virtual care team (ED consultants, ANPs, admin) to ensure safe and efficient patient flow.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement, audit, and service innovation.
Requirements:
  • Registered General Nurse (NMBI) with a minimum of 3 years post-registration experience.
  • Eligible to work in Ireland.
  • ED or acute care background essential (ED, MAU, urgent care settings).
  • Demonstrated experience in telecare or remote nursing roles (minimum 1 year preferred).
  • Familiarity with digital tools for documentation, remote monitoring, or video triage.
  • Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and independent decision-making skills.
  • Experience using Manchester Triage System or equivalent tools (desirable).
