We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Ecologist to join our team as we continue to grow and expand our services.

The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for managing and coordinating multiple national road infrastructure projects, working closely with a team of professionals in-house and externally on our projects. The role involves leading and directing the management and coordination of multiple road infrastructure projects; managing teams on the delivery of constraints stage through to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Appropriate Assessment (AA Screening, NIS) reports; designing, commissioning, and scheduling multi-disciplinary and specialist ecological surveys for sites around Ireland; and providing expert ecological advice and recommendations to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading and directing project teams;
  • Managing teams on the delivery of technical reports and assessments;
  • Designing and commissioning ecological surveys;
  • Coordinating and supervising staff work;
  • Providing expert advice and recommendations;
  • Liaising with clients and stakeholders;
  • Maintaining knowledge of industry changes and best practice;
  • Supporting sales and marketing efforts;
  • Financial management and reporting.

Qualifications/Training:

  • Degree in ecology or a related biological discipline;
  • Postgraduate degree desirable;
  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) at an appropriate level.

Working Background & Other Core Skills:

  • Experience in ecological consultancy and road infrastructure projects;
  • Expertise in oral hearing process and expert witness role;
  • Excellent report writing skills;
  • Knowledge of Irish and EU wildlife and planning legislation;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Critical review skills;
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Line management experience;
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt;
  • Commitment to client care and service delivery;
  • Commercial awareness of ecological consultancy market.
