We are seeking a highly skilled Ecological Consultant to lead our team of experienced professionals in delivering high-quality consultancy services.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates with a strong background in ecological consultancy to take on a leadership position and contribute to the success of our multidisciplinary consultancy.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage ecology contracts and deliver high-quality consultancy services to meet client expectations.
  • Provide expert ecological input into projects, including wind farms, road schemes, and commercial developments.
  • Conduct and oversee ecological fieldwork and species/habitat surveys, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and review Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) to minimize environmental impact.
  • Lead the preparation of Appropriate Assessments (AA), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and Biodiversity chapters for EIARs, providing valuable insights to clients.
  • Write and review detailed technical reports, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables, representing the company's commitment to excellence.
  • Engage with clients and multi-disciplinary teams on project planning and design, fostering effective collaboration and communication.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Ecology or a related discipline, demonstrating a solid understanding of ecological principles.
  • Minimum 4/5 years' relevant post-graduate experience in consultancy, showcasing expertise in ecological assessment and management.
  • Full membership (or eligibility) of CIEEM, CIWEM, or a similar professional body, indicating a commitment to professional development.
  • Strong technical report writing and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish wildlife and conservation legislation, ensuring compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in CEMP preparation and implementation, highlighting the ability to develop and execute effective environmental management plans.
  • Comfortable working in a team-based, multi-disciplinary environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full clean driving licence (required for site travel), facilitating smooth and efficient project execution.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience acting as an expert witness at oral hearings, demonstrating confidence and expertise in presenting complex information.
  • Familiarity with key sectors such as renewable energy or transport infrastructure, showcasing adaptability and versatility.
