Senior Ecologist Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Ecologist to join our team. As a Senior Ecologist, you will be responsible for providing ecological consultancy services to both public and private sector clients.

  • Managing individual contracts to ensure the delivery of high-quality ecological consultancy services
  • Providing specialist ecological advice across a variety of projects
  • Planning, conducting, and overseeing site ecological surveys and fieldwork
  • Preparing and supervising the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs)
  • Conducting Appropriate Assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), Biodiversity Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and other environmental reports
  • Writing detailed technical reports and other project deliverables
  • Ensuring quality control with a strong focus on accuracy, timelines, and continuous improvement of the Ecology team's output
  • Acting as expert witness during Oral Hearings
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in ecology or a related discipline
  • At least seven years of post-graduate experience in environmental consultancy
  • Member of CIEEM, CIWEM, or comparable professional body
  • Experienced in participating in oral hearing process and serving as an expert witness
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Irish wildlife and conservation legislation
  • Strong technical report writing skills
  • Proven experience in preparing and overseeing the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs)
  • Experienced in collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams
