Senior Heritage Consultant Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior heritage consultant to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to deliver technical outputs of a high standard, manage project finances, and undertake business development activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver desk-based assessments, built heritage statements, and other technical outputs to time and budget.
  • Liaise with clients, assess impacts on the historic environment, and oversee archaeological sub-contractors.
  • Manage project finances and undertake business development activities agreed with senior colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Have an understanding of the policy and legislative context for archaeological practice across the island of Ireland.
  • A degree in archaeology or related subject is essential.
  • 5+ years of experience in archaeological consultancy or commercial field work is required.
  • Experience of report writing, preferably preparing DBAs and/or built heritage statements or evaluation reports.
  • Full driving licence and ability to travel to work on projects across the island of Ireland.
  • Able and willing to carry out walk-over surveys in an outdoor environment in all weathers.
  • Willingness to join a professional body for the historic environment.
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements relevant to the role.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and use your own initiative.
  • Embracing inclusion and diversity.
  • Willingssto develop your people skills and attend mental health awareness courses.
  • Substantial knowledge of MS Office and written/spoken English language.
  • Be passionate, motivated and excited about what you do.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Eligibility to apply for archaeological licenses from the National Monuments Service.
  • Membership of the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland.
  • CIfA membership at ACIfA or MCIfA level and/or Affiliate IHBC membership.
  • Ability to relate research themes to projects.
  • Substantial knowledge of a GIS package.
  • 5+ years' experience in commercial archaeology.
  • Publishing record.
  • EIA experience.
