Travel Training Facilitator

Job Description

This role is designed to empower and support adults with intellectual disabilities to travel independently using public transport.

The facilitator will work one-to-one with each individual, assessing their travel needs and capabilities, and developing safe and achievable travel plans. This may involve building confidence through travel training, route planning, and gradual exposure.

Key responsibilities include assessing individual travel needs, collaborating with families and carers to develop travel plans, providing route-specific safety training, and promoting community integration.

The facilitator will also be responsible for monitoring progress, adjusting plans as needed, and ensuring that the individuals' plans are in line with relevant policies and procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Level 8 qualification in Teaching / Nursing / Applied Social Studies / Social Care / Psychology / Behaviour Analysis.
  • OR Level 7 relevant studies for role and minimum 4 years' experience working with people with intellectual disabilities including autism.

A full current driving license and ability to work independently and as part of a team are also essential.
