About this Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator to join our dynamic and progressive engineering team in Cork, Ireland. As a leading engineering contractor, we specialize in high-value projects across pharma, life sciences, and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate mechanical cost estimates for projects of varying scale, utilizing tender documentation and industry standards.
- Analyse technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents to define project scope and requirements.
- Conduct material and labour take-offs using relevant data from tender documentation.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to negotiate competitive pricing and secure favourable contracts.
- Assemble compliant and compelling bid packages that showcase the company's expertise and value proposition.
- Liaise with project managers and directors throughout the tender lifecycle, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
- Attend internal and client-facing pre/post tender meetings to discuss project progress and address any concerns or questions.
- Track project variations and support monthly claims and reporting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives that drive business growth and profitability.
Requirements
- Degree qualification or trade background in construction, engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years experience in estimating roles, ideally with large-scale projects, demonstrating expertise and technical knowledge.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or regulated environments is highly desirable, showcasing adaptability and flexibility.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and stakeholder management.
- Proficiency in MS Office and estimating software (e.g., Total Estimating), leveraging technology to enhance productivity and efficiency.
