FMCG Category Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated FMCG Category Specialist to join our team. As an integral part of the client's consumer division, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to maximise commercial opportunities in retail platforms.

This role requires close collaboration with the Category Manager to ensure alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs). Your primary focus will be on building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors while consistently delivering value to the client's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a rolling monthly/quarterly promotional plan to drive sales growth.
  • Evaluate product nominations and promotional details for presentations to the client's head office team.
  • Analyse stock and sales data with the client team to inform effective stock management decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Category Manager and Consumer Vendor Manager to identify new vendor partnerships and product opportunities.
  • Oversee the end-to-end process of product selection, ensuring timely execution and sign-off by the client.
  • Work closely with the Category team to establish robust exit strategies following promotional end dates.
  • Facilitate meetings with key vendors to communicate promotional opportunities and timelines.
  • Manage point-of-sale and merchandising briefs to ensure complete and accurate promotional delivery.
  • Play a crucial role in designing, funding, and approving point-of-sale materials produced for in-store execution.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in category management, preferably within the FMCG sector.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to drive results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.
  • A relevant business degree is beneficial.
  • Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills, with a strong emphasis on communication and integrity.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks without losing focus.
