Piping Technical Lead

Asset Recruitment is seeking a skilled Piping Technical Lead to lead complex process piping systems projects.

Responsibilities
  • Reports administratively to department manager on assigned projects, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Leads a large team of piping designers across multi-office projects, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Develops design and modelling of process piping systems based on provided information.
  • Delegates work and controls allocated man-hours on the projects, identifying potential scope variations.
  • Reviews and updates piping specifications as required, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Assists with project schedule and accurate progress measures, facilitating timely project completion.
  • Performs field design and verification as needed, providing technical expertise.
  • Provides technical direction to less experienced piping designers, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Prepares conceptual designs, feasibility studies, and equipment stack-ups, supporting informed decision-making.
  • Prepares material take-offs cost estimates and material procurement, including tracking piping quantities during design.
  • Accurately forecasts hours required to complete work activities, enabling effective resource allocation.
  • Monitors Changes, assesses impact on efforts and project schedule, ensuring adaptability and resilience.
  • Ensures Project Procedures, Work Instructions, and Check Lists are followed throughout the project duration.
  • Responds to Technical Queries from Mechanical Contractors, Vendors, and Clients, providing expert guidance.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience with process and mechanical piping systems in Life Sciences.
  • Complete understanding and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field.
  • 3rd level engineering qualification or equivalent trade experience.
  • Proficient in Navisworks and Plant 3D/SP3D or similar 3D software essential for effective project delivery.
  • Strong work ethic with good communications skills required for leading multi-office project execution.
  • Proven time management skills enable successful project completion.
  • Experience in leading a team of piping designers in the Pharma or related industry is essential.
