About Our Project Engineer RoleWe are hiring an experienced mechanical engineer to work on the commissioning and maintenance of water and wastewater projects across the country. This exciting opportunity allows you to join a well-established contractor and contribute to the delivery of essential services that improve public health and safety.
- This role involves assisting in the design, development, and implementation of operation and maintenance strategies for water and wastewater treatment systems.
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing technical guidance and support for ongoing system performance and reliability throughout the project lifecycle.
As a Project Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Reporting to the Operations Manager
- Assisting in the development and integration of operation and maintenance strategies for water and wastewater treatment systems
- Working collaboratively with civil, process, electrical, ICA, and H&S teams to support the integration of mechanical systems into the operational environment
- Supporting the selection and procurement of mechanical equipment, ensuring alignment with operational requirements and long-term maintainability
- Coordinating subcontractors involved in maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring that work aligns with operational goals, schedules, and quality benchmarks
- Conducting or supporting regular site inspections to monitor system performance, identify issues, and assist in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical challenges
- Maintaining effective communication with clients and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of O&M activities
- Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE practices during operational activities
- Preparing detailed O&M plans, logs, and performance reports for internal and external stakeholders
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
- At least 3 years of proven experience as a Project Engineer in the water and wastewater industry
- Experience within the Water/Wastewater industry is highly desirable
- Motivated, self-starter with excellent communications skills
- Ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines (civil, electrical, process, etc.) and provide technical and commercial guidance in a multidisciplinary environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of resolving technical issues and managing project changes
- In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards in mechanical design and construction, particularly in water and wastewater sectors
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with clients, subcontractors, and team members
