Oncology Unit Coordinator Position

The position of Oncology Unit Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Oncology Day Unit. This role involves directing and coordinating patient care operations to meet the needs of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and directs daily patient care operations of the unit.
  • Analyses workloads and skill requirements to meet patient care needs.
  • Assesses staff competencies and makes patient care assignments.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to The Professional Scope of Practice Framework.
  • Identify and communicate any issues promptly to the Nurse Manager.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assigning patient loads based on the skill mix of staff.
  • Directly supervises the activities of Staff Nurses, HCAs, and unit receptionists.

Personal & Professional Responsibilities:

  • Attend mandatory education sessions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a professional portfolio as required by professional standards.

Interrelationships:

  • Develop an effective interdisciplinary communication process and participate in hospital-wide nursing processes.
