Inpatient Oncology Unit Leadership

Our organization seeks a visionary nursing leader to spearhead our Inpatient Medical Oncology Unit. This individual will inspire and guide a team of healthcare professionals in delivering exceptional patient care, fostering a culture of compassion and efficiency.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the staff on the inpatient oncology unit, aligning their efforts with the department's strategic objectives and hospital-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain oversight of patient care processes, analyzing outcomes to identify areas for improvement and implementing data-driven solutions.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by recruiting, retaining, and developing competent staff, ensuring they adhere to performance standards and labor best practices.

Clinical Expertise:

  • Ensure compliance with the Scope of Nursing and Midwifery Practice Framework (NMBI 2015).
  • Participate in quality management processes to identify gaps, evaluate current practices, establish standards, and contribute to internal audits.

Interprofessional Relationships:

  • Nurture effective working relationships with other departments, physicians, patients, families, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills during shifts, delegating tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Personal and Professional Growth:

  • Prioritize ongoing education, maintaining a professional portfolio, and upholding a positive image of the nursing profession.
  • Leverage opportunities to educate patients and families, attend workshops, and participate in performance reviews.

Essential Competencies:

  • Hold a valid NMBI Registered General Nurse license in good standing.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Oncology Nursing is highly desirable.
  • Management certification is highly desirable.

Competency and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate ability to work within a Cancer Services multi-disciplinary team.
  • Exhibit a proactive approach to job responsibilities.
  • Display effective communication skills, presenting information clearly and concisely.
