Job Title: Team Leader, Engineering Operations

This position is ideal for an experienced professional who combines strong technical knowledge with practical, hands-on problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment.

You will play a key role in leading and developing your team—offering real-time coaching, supporting technical development, and maintaining high standards of quality and output.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate actively in day-to-day leadership of the business unit, driving engagement activities.
  • Manage people and performance:
    • Coach and mentor engineers.
    • Resource management:
  • Lead continuous improvement activities.
  • Drive manufacturing loss improvements within the value stream.
  • Identify, develop, and implement processes to improve department performance. Provide manufacturing support by defining work assignments directed to address manufacturing process defects and implement process improvements using Quality System tools.
  • Develop or identify new work processes and improved utilization of human and material resources within operations functions.
  • Engage and participate in supporting the delivery of business unit KPIs.
  • Oversight of operational standards development for capacity evaluations, budget planning, and as a basis for operational measures (Key Performance Indicator).
  • Continuously improve business performance by providing technical solutions to operations issues.
  • Provide leadership and direction on technology development and application within the manufacturing process.
  • Support capital acquisition activity from specifying equipment, contract negotiation, installation, and validation.
  • Provide out-of-hours support to the business as required.
  • Liaise with area team leads, manufacturing engineers, and senior engineers to understand process and equipment downtime priorities and eliminate recurring issues.
  • Liaise with team leads and process/maintenance technicians on equipment PM plans to minimize impact on production schedules.
  • Critical equipment availability metrics planned and unplanned understanding.
  • All other duties assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 years' relevant experience in a team-based regulated manufacturing environment, ideally previous supervisory experience.
  • Good knowledge of GMP/FDA regulatory requirements and current Health and Safety Regulations legislation.
  • Proven experience practicing Lean tools.
  • Business understanding of operations and their impacts essential.
  • High-level PC skills.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external agents.
  • Able to facilitate a team of engineers to deliver specific objectives.
  • An above-average level of emotional intelligence.
  • Flexibility essential with strong project management skills.
  • The individual should enjoy working in an aggressive, dynamic, and results-motivated team-based environment.
