We are looking for a talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in the Astronomy and Astrophysics Section at DIAS. As a member of the Solar Physics and Space Weather group, you will be involved in a high-profile EU H2020 Project, ARCAFF, which aims to improve active region classifications and flare forecasts using machine learning techniques.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with local and international researchers, preparing data for and developing deep learning models for flare forecasting. This role requires expertise in solar physics, heliospheric physics, machine learning, or related disciplines, as well as experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Doctorate in solar physics, heliospheric physics, machine learning, or related discipline.
- Experience with data analysis using scientific Python stack.
- Familiarity with preparation and analysis of solar data, particularly EUV images and magnetograms.
- Background in developing and applying deep learning models to solar observations.
The successful applicant will receive a salary commensurate with their qualifications and experience, along with access to resources and facilities that support their research goals.
