Social Care Specialist
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a new service delivering trauma-informed care for young people aged between 13 and 17 years.
The team will encourage the development of positive attachments through relationship building with the overall goal of providing a therapeutic environment for children and young people. There will be a strong emphasis on engaging the young people in the programme and on building rapport in support of developing relationships.
You will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of professionals to deliver holistic, trauma-informed care to the young people.
Key responsibilities include:
- Promoting the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the service.
- Promoting physical, emotional, social, and religious welfare of each young person in care.
- Encouraging attendance at school, training centres, medical, and clinical appointments.
- Liaising with parents, families, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the young person.
- Attending meetings in relation to the care and developments of the young person.
- Engaging in age-appropriate play and other activities with each child/young person within the service.
- Preparing and providing well-balanced meals for the young people.
- To undertake various aspects of home management including household budget, upkeep, and cleaning.
- Reporting to the manager on matters affecting the delivery of service.
- Making written and verbal reports on the progress of the young person.
- Ensuring Child Protection procedures are followed.
- Staying up-to-date with current legislation and professional childcare knowledge.
- Undertaking ongoing professional training and development.
Requirements
- Be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU or hold a CORU approved qualification and have applied for registration.
- Have the requisite knowledge and ability for proper discharge of duties.
