Job Description

We are seeking a highly creative and motivated Rigger to join our team in Dublin. As a key member of our animation team, you will be responsible for carrying through the artistic vision of our projects and applying your expertise directly to rigging game assets.

Responsibilities:
  • Rig 3D assets (characters, creatures, props, sets, etc.) to achieve the intended animation performance for both gameplay and cinematics.
  • Support the Animation and Art teams, fulfilling as much as possible their in-game and offline needs.
  • Be proactive and vocal about any issues encountered in our rigging pipeline and communicate with the Production team in a timely manner.
  • Author and implement rigs for gameplay and cinematic characters, creatures, props, or any other asset that is required in game.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and improve rigs in production, while ensuring their stability for the animation team.
  • Collaborate with design, modelling, and animation teams to build robust, animation-friendly rigs.
  • Have a good understanding of mesh flow and work closely with the modelling team to assess asset topology and provide notes as needed.
  • Research, build, and develop unique and one-off rigs.
  • Follow and enforce rigging standards for assets going to the floor.
  • Communicate with the production team on concerns and production issues ahead of time.
  • Support the Lead of the department in any ad hoc tasks and duties.
  • Take care of managing all the outsourcing related to rigging, from communication to reviewing and integrating assets.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Excellent skills creating full body and facial character rigs in Maya or any other DCC package.
  • Highly skilled in skinning and other deformation techniques.
  • Excellent communication, time management, problem-solving skills, and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willing to take on new challenges and a strong appetite for learning, researching, and developing.
  • Expertise with scripting languages such as Python.
  • Team-oriented and has a strong desire for collaborative participation in a team-based pipeline across different geographic locations.
  • Able to take direction and feedback positively, adapt to change, and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines.
  • Enthusiastic, methodical, and organized approach to work with high quality standards.
  • Sense of initiative, originality, and resourcefulness in problem solving.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
