Clinical Specialist Speech & Language Therapist Job Opportunity

This exciting role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to assess and rehabilitate stroke patients across acute and rehabilitation settings. The successful candidate will deliver evidence-based, patient-centred care while contributing to improved patient outcomes.

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities for Clinical Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

  • Conduct specialist assessments and interventions for stroke patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Provide expert clinical decision-making in complex cases.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams in acute and rehabilitation settings.
  • Develop care pathways that optimise patient recovery.
  • Support service development, clinical research, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to SLT colleagues.
  • Stay up to date with best practices and emerging research in stroke rehabilitation.
Requirements of the Clinical Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • CORU registration as a Speech & Language Therapist.
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, including 4 years in stroke rehabilitation.
  • Recognised dysphagia qualification in line with IASLT standards.
  • Experience in Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies (VFS) is desirable.
  • Strong clinical leadership, research, and service development experience.
  • Access to own transport is desirable.
