Sligo, Sligo, Ireland beBeeMidwife Full time €50,000 - €80,000

Job Title: Experienced Midwife Needed

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Midwife (RM) or Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join our Maternity ward team in Co Sligo. The successful candidate will have a strong background in midwifery and be able to work regular shifts in an acute setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide high-quality, person-centred care to women and babies according to best practice and evidence-based frameworks.

This will include delivering routine antenatal care, assisting with births, and supporting new mothers postnatally.

  • To practice midwifery in a way that promotes normality and supports the health, welfare, and social wellbeing of all women and babies.

This includes being knowledgeable about current maternity policies and procedures, and being able to communicate effectively with patients and their families.

  • To manage a caseload as required and actively participate as a multi-disciplinary team member in all aspects of service delivery.

This may involve working closely with obstetricians, paediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for patients.

  • To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual person-centred care programmes within an agreed framework and in accordance with policies, procedures, and guidelines.

This will involve gathering information from patients, identifying their needs, and developing tailored plans to meet those needs.

  • To develop and promote good interpersonal relationships with patients, their families, and the multi-disciplinary care team.

This is crucial for effective communication, mutual respect, and positive patient outcomes.

Requirements:
  • Current registration as a RM or RGN with the relevant nursing body.

This is essential for practising midwifery in Ireland.

  • Minimum 1 year's post-registration experience in maternity care.

This demonstrates your ability to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting.

  • Ability to work regular shifts, including weekdays and weekends, with 12-hour shifts available.

This flexibility is necessary for ensuring continuous care and meeting the changing needs of patients.

  • Commitment to providing continuity of care and working closely with the patient, their family, and the multi-disciplinary team.

This requires empathy, active listening skills, and a willingness to go above and beyond for patients.
