Job Opportunity: Lead Microbiology Laboratory in Cork, Ireland

A highly experienced and skilled professional is required to lead the laboratory in Cork, Ireland.

The laboratory examines a diverse range of specimens for bacterial, fungal, viral and parasitic infections and consists of the main bacteriology laboratory, a Serology laboratory, full molecular suite and CL3 laboratory processing Enteric and Mycobacterium work.

About the Role:

  • This position requires exceptional leadership skills to oversee all technical/scientific aspects of the laboratory.
  • The successful candidate will participate in ensuring the Quality Management System conforms to the standards contained in ISO 15189; Medical Laboratories.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate must have the required qualifications for a Chief Medical Scientist.
  • A postgraduate degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science and be a registered Medical Scientist with CORU.
  • Approved qualifications for a Principal Biochemist (HSE grade) include an MSc in Clinical Biochemistry or relevant subject area or equivalent qualification.
  • The candidate should have at least 6 years' experience in a Medical Laboratory post qualification, with 2 years in a senior post.
  • Experience in Quality Management and ISO Accreditation is highly desirable.
