
Road Construction Manager

Job Title: Project Director
Overview:
Our company is a leading provider of road construction and maintenance services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategize works to optimize resource allocation.
- Coordinate site operations, manage financial performance, and ensure quality and safety standards.
- Prepare relevant health and safety plans.
- Monitor temporary traffic management and communicate site inductions.
- Liaise with internal teams and ensure proper record keeping for all aspects of projects.
- Ensure surface dressing works meet compliance standards.
- Coordinate testing and sampling of materials.
- Source raw materials from approved suppliers and identify potential suppliers.
- Appoint approved contractors to perform subcontract operations.
- Plan and forecast works.
- Manage contract finances, proactive cost control, and prompt invoicing.
- Aware of work in progress and maintain control.
- Nurture customer relationships and develop new opportunities.
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Direct, manage, and lead contracting operations across the Republic of Ireland.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Meet revenue and margin targets.
- Grow market share in terms of revenue, tonnage, and products.
- Develop internal and external capabilities to deliver road maintenance services.
- Measure performance in productivity, quality, costs, revenue, and asset management.
- Develop programmes to improve production efficiency.
- Contribute to tenders in a timely manner.
- Develop new market opportunities, introduce new products, and adapt to changing customer needs.
- Promote positive employee relations.
- Optimize human resources through involvement, open communication, and teamwork.
Requirements:
- Level 8 degree in Civil/Construction or equivalent qualification.
- Up to 5 years leadership experience in a road surfacing or contracting environment.
- Knowledge: Contracting, estimating, project management, health and safety, and outsourcing.
- Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Analytical skills to resolve technical challenges.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively without direct management responsibilities.
