About the Role

This position involves collaboration with a cross-functional team to develop scalable, user-centric platform solutions. Responsibilities include designing and building backend services, contributing to projects that leverage AI-powered insights, and partnering with other teams to validate and develop ideas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and build scalable backend services and APIs that power core platform experiences;
  • Contribute to projects that incorporate AI-powered insights and personalisation to improve user experience and conversion;
  • Partner with frontend, design, product, and data science teams to validate, design, and develop ideas that balance user needs, technical scalability, and drive impact;
  • Help identify friction points and contribute to experiments that improve acquisition, onboarding, and retention;
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in backend development, testing, and performance;
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and retrospectives as an engaged team member.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Professional experience with Java, Kotlin, or another object-oriented language;
  • Ability to tackle complex and ambiguous problems, communicate clearly with others to solve the problem, and share knowledge to help the whole team succeed;
  • Prior experience building well-engineered, reliable, and scalable microservices;
  • Passion for delivering real-world customer impact;
  • Experience working in a team with Agile/Scrum methodology focused on delivering reliable, high-quality software.
Bonus Requirements:
  • Professional experience in unit testing and E2E testing;
  • Experience with AWS technologies like DynamoDB and ECS;
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, SaaS, SQL, Apache Pulsar;
  • Experience working on a platform team;
  • Familiarity with GraphQL;
  • Desire to help small businesses thrive.
