Job Description

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in leading the development of innovative medical technologies that save lives and improve the quality of life for millions of patients worldwide.

The Cardiac Ablation Solutions team is seeking an experienced engineer to join our growing team. This is a hybrid role with a 4-day onsite requirement, where you will be heavily involved in supporting the design work for critical ablation programs.

Our goal is to develop next-generation medical devices that meet the needs of healthcare professionals and patients alike. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on complex product design activities, including concept development and prototyping, design/development of components manufactured via plastic injection molding, stamping, machining, extrusion, and related processes.

You will also be responsible for creating and interpreting analyses to determine design suitability, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff, incorporating risk-based decision-making into the design process, and applying Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies throughout the design and development process.

Additionally, you will ensure on-time completion of Design Control deliverables, maintain current knowledge of related technologies, collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure high-volume assembly feasibility, translate VoX feedback into product requirements, create and release engineering drawings, reports, and presentations, and travel to supplier and manufacturing sites as required.

Present technical findings and project status to cross-functional teams and management. Research, plan, design, verify, and validate electromechanical products and systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 4+ years of experience in mechanical product development or Master's degree with 2+ years of experience
  • DRM Greenbelt or above
  • Experience in the medical device industry
  • Experience in complex mechanical system design
  • Experience with plastic injection molding in high-volume environments
  • Extensive experience in 3D modeling, finite element analysis, and statistical design analysis
  • Process and test method development and validation
  • Formal training in Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience designing/developing catheters
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing
