About the Role

We are seeking a part-time domiciliary carer to work in a residential care home in Ennis, Co Clare.

Working pattern: Monday to Sunday, day and night shifts. Minimum of 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with their personal care needs, including bathing, hair care, dressing and undressing.
  • Help those who require assistance at mealtimes.
  • Ensure dietary needs are met, including special diets and supplementary drinks, under the direction of nursing staff. Report any issues with client intake.
  • Support nursing staff in turning and re-positioning clients using appropriate equipment (e.g., hoist, sliding sheets). Assist with walking and limb exercises as directed.
  • Accompany clients within and, in some cases, outside the residence.
  • Report any complaints of pain or distress from clients to nursing staff.
  • Clean and restock linen presses/wardrobes and ensure personal clothing is stored correctly. Use correct laundry bags, tie and label them, and transport them to the laundry area.
  • Provide care for incontinent clients, promoting continence awareness among bedridden clients with toilet needs.
  • Toileting clients, including removing, emptying, and cleaning bedpans, urinals, and commodes using a bedpan washer-disinfector.
  • Dispose of waste, including clinical waste appropriately.
Requirements
  • Hold a Level 5 qualification in Care Assistant
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Good working knowledge of English
  • Knowledge and commitment to safe working practices
  • Familiarity with equipment necessary for assigned tasks
  • Garda vetting required
