Job Description

We are seeking a detail-driven Cost Controller to join our team.

This is a key role within the hotel, responsible for managing and recording goods deliveries, as well as updating costings and monitoring inventories of R&B items.

The successful candidate will be responsible for adhering to all cost control procedures, creating new procedures where applicable, and ensuring compliance with documentation/authorisation processes.

Additionally, you will be required to process R&B accruals, participate in month end reporting procedures, and carry out weekly stock takes and evaluate potentials.

As a Cost Controller, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial accuracy and integrity of the hotel.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and record goods deliveries
  • Record R&B costs into the General Ledger System
  • Adhere to all cost control procedures (where applicable create new procedures)
  • Update costings
  • R&B revenue and cost audits
  • Review purchasing procedures for all R&B items
  • Ensure compliance with documentation/authorisation processes
  • Process R&B accruals
  • Monitor inventories of R&B to increase inventory turnover
  • Participate in month end reporting procedures in relation to R&B stock and other tasks
  • Carry out weekly stock takes and evaluate potentials

Requirements
  • Previous experience in hotels is preferred but not mandatory – we can teach you everything you need to know about hotel finance
  • Previous experience in income audit or accounts payable
  • Understanding of the basic accounting functions
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Ability to analyse P&L statements, apply timeliness and accuracy in recording and reporting
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Hands-on, outgoing, proactive approach; taking personal responsibility and initiative to prevent or resolve problems
  • A balance between a methodical and process-driven approach and flexibility and creativity when meeting deadlines and finding solutions
  • You like detail, a lot of detail
