Volunteer: Legal Expertise for Charities

Join us to apply for the Volunteer: Legal Expertise for Charities role, a unique opportunity to contribute your skills and expertise to a dedicated team.

This role requires strategic leadership and legal guidance to support the charity's operations and minimize risks. As a board member, you will provide expert advice on regulatory matters and assist in reviewing policies and procedures to ensure alignment with best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide guidance on legal matters and minimize risks.
  • Board Engagement: Actively participate in Board Meetings and offer strategic insights and advice.
  • Committee Involvement: Serve as a member of at least one Subcommittee and drive fundraising and grant applications.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with 5 years' experience.
  • Knowledge of Irish law, regulations, and governance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Term of Office:

  • Annual performance review at the end of the first year.
  • Subject to satisfactory review and board approval, the role will continue for an additional period of three years.

Declaration of Interest:

  • All Board Members are required to complete a Conflict of Interest Declaration Form on Induction.

Confidentiality:

  • All Board Members are expected to work in line with the Governance Handbook and the organisation's policies and procedures in relation to confidentiality and data protection.

Time Requirement:

  • The approximate time commitment is 4-6 hours per month.
