Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Principal Roads Engineer to lead our road infrastructure projects and oversee their design, delivery, and compliance with national and local regulations.

This role requires a highly skilled professional with expertise in road engineering, project management, and team leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the future of transport infrastructure in Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Lead and manage the design, planning, and delivery of road infrastructure projects from initiation to completion.
  • Technical Expertise: Oversee the preparation of feasibility studies, design reports, and contract documentation ensuring adherence to relevant standards, including TII and DMURS guidelines.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and professional development support to ensure high-quality work.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with stakeholders, including local authorities, government agencies, and contractors to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct site inspections and provide technical input during construction phases to ensure compliance with specifications and timelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional body.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in road and highway engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of Irish road design standards and regulations.
  • Proven experience in project management and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar.
  • Experience with contract administration and procurement processes.
