The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) plays a pivotal role in the surgical and orthopaedic services at University Hospital Waterford. This leadership position requires a dedicated and skilled professional to oversee the delivery of high-quality patient care, while also driving continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of nurses and support staff in designated areas of responsibility, ensuring that skill mix takes account of fluctuating workloads and maximizes available resources.
- Assess and monitor trends through collection and analysis of activity and data, keeping CNM2 and Senior Nursing Management informed of changing work patterns that may require increased resource allocation.
- Collaborate with the CNM2 in preparing, implementing, and evaluating budget and service plans for the clinical area, promoting a culture that values diversity and respect in the workplace.
- Contribute to quality assurance by assisting in data collection, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, policies, and procedures affecting service users, staff, and other hospital matters.
Requirements
- Able to exercise authority in the running of assigned areas as deputized by the CNM2.
- Ability to provide necessary coordination and deployment of nursing and support staff in designated areas of responsibility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams, with a strong understanding of clinical governance and quality management principles.
