
Social Care Leader

This is an exciting opportunity for leaders in Social Care to join a new service which will deliver a trauma-informed model of care for young people aged between 13 and 17 years of age.
The team will encourage the development of positive attachments through relationship building with the overall goal of providing a therapeutic environment for children and young people.
There will be a strong emphasis on engaging the young people in the programme and on building rapport in support of developing relationships.
- You will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of professionals to deliver robust, holistic, trauma-informed care to the young people.
About the Role:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years' experience of working in a Children & Families Service or other relevant environment with a similarly challenging client group.
The successful applicant will be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU or hold a CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for registration.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development and implementation of Care and Placement Plans and ensure appropriate recording of same.
- Promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the centre.
- Promote physical, emotional, social, and religious welfare of each young person in care.
- Encourage attendance at school, training centres, medical and clinical appointments.
- Be responsible for the organisation of personal documents, arrangements, information, and finance on behalf of the young person.
- Liaise with the parent, family, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the young person.
- Attend meetings in relation to the care and developments of the young person.
- Engage in age-appropriate play and other activities with each child/young person within the centre.
- Engage in physical intervention and/or restraint which is in keeping with local policies and procedures.
- Prepare and provide well-balanced meals of high quality in conjunction with the young people.
- Undertake various aspects of home management including the household budget, upkeep, and cleaning.
- Attend team meetings and report to the manager on matters affecting the delivery of service.
- Be accountable for any money spent.
- Make written and verbal reports to the manager on a regular basis on the progress of development of the young person.
- Undertake ongoing professional training and development.
- Be responsible for decision making when on shift and in the absence of the Deputy Manager or manager as appropriate, which will include accepting overall responsibility for the centre.
- Be part of a team that provides on-call to the centre.
