Compassionate Support Worker

At the Good Shepherd Centre, we provide emergency accommodation for adults. Our services are low threshold and designed to meet the unique needs of each individual service user.

This is a nightly service requiring the post holder to work weekends, nights, and public holidays on a rota basis. The role involves providing a non-directive support and advocacy service to service users, promoting their participation and social interaction with the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe and caring environment for all service users.
  • Provide a non-directive support and advocacy service to service users.
  • Promote service user participation and social interaction of clients/residents with the community.
  • Support and follow the behavioural care/support plans as developed by Project Workers.
  • Act as an advocate for service users as appropriate.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in relation to services users and staff and all information, written or verbal, concerning the operation of our centre.
  • Carry out assigned duties as required.

The post holder will be required to attend training/meetings at other locations. A full clean driving licence is required for this role.

As a Compassionate Support Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring the building is safe and secure at night, attending to reception duties, and communicating with incoming staff, students or volunteer staff at shift changeover.

Requirements:
  • Min Level 5 - Social care qualification.
  • Full clean Irish driving licence (preferred).
  • Work authorisation: Ireland.
