Job Summary

Mechanical Engineering Technician Position

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of all specialist vehicles and equipment across multiple regional workshops.

  • The ideal candidate will possess a certified trade qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance, with experience working within a trade role and possessing skills in electrical systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • A full UK driving licence is required, as well as competence in Management Information Systems and IT software.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm. The initial contract is six months, with potential for extension based on performance.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the operational readiness of all specialist vehicles and equipment. This involves inspecting, diagnosing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of emergency service vehicles and operational equipment.

Your Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A certified level 3 trade qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance, with at least two years post-apprenticeship experience working within a trade role.
  • Qualified to safely install, maintain, and fault-find both 240v and 110v electrical systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • A current full UK Class C driving licence (current UK category B+E licence is desirable but not essential).
  • Competence in the use of Management Information Systems and IT software.
