Job Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the team in various aspects, including:

  • Ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Supporting service users in living in the community and making informed choices about their lives.

The job holder will work closely with the team to provide a safe and supportive environment that promotes independence, choice and control.

Duties and Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing personal care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Assisting with daily living tasks, such as meal preparation and household chores.
  • Developing and implementing individualized plans to promote independence and choice.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports on service user progress.
  • Participating in regular staff meetings and contributing to team decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. They will also possess a strong commitment to promoting the rights and dignity of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  • A relevant qualification in healthcare or a related field (e.g., QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support).
  • At least one year of experience working in a similar role, preferably with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • A full clean driving license and ability to drive safely.
