Senior Design Lead

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Design Lead to join our in-house design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and overseeing comprehensive design programs, handling technical aspects of the business, and collaborating with the estimating team.

  • Develop and oversee design programs, ensuring alignment with client contractual agreements and quality standards.
  • Handle all technical aspects of the business, addressing both internal and external queries and providing timely solutions.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to provide technical expertise and value engineering during the tender process.
  • Partner with the Production Manager to ensure manufacturing information meets production requirements and drive process improvements where needed.
  • Lead and manage the in-house design team, setting clear targets and tracking progress.
  • Foster and maintain strong, lasting relationships with key customers across Ireland.
  • Ensure all design activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with client design teams and external consultants on active projects.
  • Work closely with site teams to address and resolve project-related queries.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in timber frame or modular construction design, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality designs.
  • Skilled in using AutoCAD software for design and drafting tasks, as well as other industry-standard tools.
  • Has strong experience leading a design team, having exposure to offering support and advice to lower-level/junior staff and ensuring projects/targets are being met.
  • Familiarity with Digital Project Delivery principles is an advantage.
  • Capable of producing detailed drawings for both new and existing projects, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to interpret and work with architectural and engineering drawings, with a solid understanding of building codes and regulations.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive in approach, with a passion for design and innovation.
