We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager to oversee our busy checkout department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with retail supervisory experience who is committed to delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Manage the overall operations of a busy checkout department, ensuring smooth and efficient processes at all times.
  • Supervise a team of 8-10 staff on duty, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Rostering for a team of approximately 25, including supervisory staff, to ensure adequate staffing levels during peak periods.
  • Implement effective queue management strategies to minimize wait times and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all staff have the necessary tools and resources required to perform their roles effectively.
  • Cover tills during peak periods and provide support to the customer service desk as needed.
  • Oversee the store's end-of-home delivery operations, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Maintain a high level of departmental housekeeping, adhering to relevant legislation and company policies.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff skills and knowledge, promoting career development and growth within the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience managing a busy checkout team in a retail grocery environment.
  • Experience with till/cash register systems and strong technical skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and circumstances.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
