Job Title: Chief Operating Officer

Overview:


This senior leadership position is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of construction projects—safely, on time, and within budget.


The Chief Operating Officer will drive project execution from pre-construction through to maintenance, with a strong focus on profitability, compliance, and quality.



Key Accountabilities:
Commercial Strategy
  • Maximize contract profitability while protecting against potential client LD's and claims
  • Implement best in class document management and construction management processes and procedures


Pre-Construction Phase
  • Obtain detailed handover from relevant teams
  • Ensure all necessary pre-construction design, planning and works are completed before commencing on site


Construction Phase
  • Deliver projects safely, on time and within budget
  • Responsible for programme scheduling and reporting
  • Lead variations, claims and EOT and documentation of same
  • Monitor milestones and cash flow performance by project
  • Coordinate grid connection and commission with the engineering team
  • Oversee/co-coordinate quality review of construction works


Maintenance Phase
  • Plan and undertake all onsite maintenance


Reporting and Governance
  • Ensure strong monthly, quarterly and annual reporting across the projects with a focus on budget and working capital


Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years' experience in a similar project delivery role within the construction or renewable energy sector
  • Experience of FIDIC contracts and appropriate risk allocation
  • Proven commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, claims, and contractual obligations
  • Strong understanding of construction programmes, scheduling, and grid connection processes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of delivering complex projects safely and on time
  • Proficiency in document management systems and reporting tools
  • Excellent knowledge of health & safety regulations and quality standards
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
