Nazareth House is a nursing home registered to accommodate 70 male or female residents who require long-term residential care or who require short-term respite, convalescence, dementia or palliative care.
The nursing home is located in Sligo town and is a short walk from bus services and the train station.
The building is divided into two residential units which accommodate 35 residents each.

About This Role

  • To achieve the highest possible standard of care in a professional manner through direct nursing care and effective supervision of staff members.
  • To take management responsibility for a shift as directed.
Main Responsibilities
  • Care:
    • Ensure that all staff contribute to the efficient running of the unit in a way that creates an atmosphere conducive to the best interests of the residents.
    • Report any ill health among residents and make requests for GP visits where necessary.
  • Administer prescribed medication in accordance with An Bord Altranais requirements.
  • Maintain good communication with residents, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team.

Requirements
  • Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais.
  • Have at least 1 year of post-registration experience preferably in the area of care for older persons.
