Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive standardized Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) service within Vhi Health and Wellbeing DAC, aligned with the Health & Wellbeing IPC annual program.
This involves clinical focus, patient advocacy, education and training, research and audit, and consultation across national services. The role requires providing expert advice and support to both clinical and non-clinical teams, ensuring the highest professional standards using an evidence-based risk management approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementing IPC service in line with national and international recommendations and guidance.
- Providing expert advice and support to all members of both clinical and non-clinical teams.
- Maintaining a comprehensive, efficient, and effective IPC service by assessing, identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Carrying out responsibilities with cognizance of national and international best quality assured standards of care.
- Managing service user care to ensure the highest professional standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
- 5 years post-registration experience as a Registered General Nurse.
- A recognised post-registration nursing course in Infection Control or be in pursuit of same.
- 1 year of experience working in the specialty of infection prevention & control (desirable).
