Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor

Job Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to spearhead complex construction projects, with a strong focus on managing costs and commercial negotiations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in sectors such as data centres, pharmaceuticals, energy, commercial, and healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cost estimation, tender reviews, and budget forecasting for mechanical, piping, and groundwork scopes.
  • Review technical documents, drawings, and specifications to produce accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost breakdowns.
  • Conduct site inspections and collaborate with engineering/design teams to validate scope and progress.
  • Assess subcontractor packages, track variations, and manage commercial negotiations.
  • Maintain up-to-date cost reports, procurement logs, and project valuations.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, industry standards, and health & safety requirements.
  • Provide commercial insight and risk identification throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal cost control and procurement systems.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5+ years' QS experience with a mechanical contractor or civils/MEP firm.
  • Solid track record in managing piping and groundworks packages on complex builds.
  • Strong technical and commercial acumen, with a keen eye for cost control and project value.
  • Familiarity with projects in data centres, life sciences, energy, or large-scale commercial construction.
  • Proficient in standard estimating and cost management software (e.g., Cubit, CostX, Excel).
  • Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
